<p>UCSF leaders are expressing support for the right of individuals to demonstrate peacefully, while recommitting to the University’s responsibility to enhance the safety of students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors – and UCSF property.</p>
<p>Due to changes in details of the telephonic UC Regents' meeting scheduled for four campuses beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, the UCSF Police Department is preparing for anticipated public demonstrations at UCSF's Mission Bay campus.</p>
<p>UCSF’s faculty and students are taking a wide-ranging look at the inequities that exist in the Unites States, in terms of both health itself and the quality of health care, across racial, ethnic and socioeconomic lines.</p>
<p>National expert Harold Sox, an active professor emeritus at Dartmouth, will visit UCSF on November 28 to speak about "Comparative Effectiveness Research: Is it Fulfilling Its Promise?"</p>
<p>Although the vast majority of Americans understand the importance of taking part in clinical research to advance medical science, three in four adults have little to no knowledge about how clinical research works or how to participate. UCSF is trying to bridge that information gap.</p>
<p>UCSF staff are invited to attend a special holiday appreciation breakfast at three different locations this December.</p>
<p>A National Academy of Sciences committee co-chaired by UCSF Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, recommends the creation of a Google maps-like data network that could transform the future of medical discovery, diagnosis and treatment.</p>
<p>The new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay is planned as a shining example of evidence-based hospital design, an increasingly prevalent trend built on research suggesting that design can improve health outcomes by increasing safety and reducing stress among patients, their families and hospital staff.</p>

<p>The people of Cusco, Peru, see UCSF's Rosa Ten, MD, as a compassionate healer with a heart as big as Mother Teresa’s. They call her <em>Santa Rosa,</em> which means “Saint Rose” in Spanish.</p>
<p>For the fifth year in a row, a team from Lincoln High School, one of just two made up of high school students, came home with a gold medal in an international science competition after spending 10 weeks in the UCSF lab of Wendell Lim, PhD.</p>
