The original UCSF campus located at Parnassus Heights is made up of a tight network of buildings where faculty, staff, students and others are engaged in patient care, research and education activities. Covering almost six blocks, the campus serves as headquarters for UCSF leaders.
UCSF Mission Bay is a teaching, research and clinical care campus with a daily population of about 3,500 UCSF faculty, staff, students, patients and other visitors. With more than 1 million square feet of research space, the thriving campus also includes a 289-bed integrated hospital complex to serve women, children and cancer patients.
The UCSF Mount Zion campus is a hub of specialized medical center clinics and surgery services located in the Western Addition. In addition to housing the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Mount Zion boasts a growing network of outpatient services.
Mount Sutro is home to a vibrant, 61-acre open space reserve owned by UCSF as well as campus housing nestled amongst the trees in the heart of San Francisco. The Reserve features more than 5 miles of public, multi-use trails, with a 900-foot elevation gain, that cater year-round to hikers, trail runners, dogs on leash and cyclists.
The UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program is a branch of the School of Medicine, extending critical physician training and medical care to the San Joaquin Valley. Established in 1975, UCSF Fresno is the largest physician-training program between Sacramento and Los Angeles – training more than 300 medical residents and fellows and more than 300 visiting medical students from around the United States on a rotating basis, each year.

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center has been a partner with UCSF in public health since 1873. Faculty from all four UCSF schools – dentistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy – work at SFGH, where they provide patient care treatment and services, conduct research and teach. All physicians at SFGH hold UCSF faculty appointments. Information | Map
San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC) is owned by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and is affiliated with all four UCSF schools: dentistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy. More than 240 full- and part-time UCSF physicians are on staff at SFVAMC and provide patient care. SFVAMC serves as a major teaching hospital for UCSF residents. It funds 171 positions for UCSF residents who train at SFVAMC, and provides clinical training for one-third of UCSF medical students. Information | Map
Gladstone Institutes is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution comprising three institutes devoted to the study of cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS, and Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders. Gladstone is located adjacent to the UCSF Mission Bay campus. Through the institutes’ affiliation with UCSF, Gladstone investigators hold UCSF faculty appointments and participate in many University activities, including the teaching and training of graduate students.
