The original UCSF campus located at Parnassus Heights is made up of a tight network of buildings where faculty, staff, students and others are engaged in patient care, research and education activities. Covering almost six blocks, the campus serves as headquarters for UCSF leaders.
Map and directions
UCSF Mission Bay is a teaching, research and clinical care campus with a daily population of about 3,500 UCSF faculty, staff, students, patients and other visitors. With more than 1 million square feet of research space, the thriving campus also includes an integrated hospital that serves women, children and cancer patients.
The UCSF Mount Zion campus is a hub of specialized medical center clinics and surgery services located in the Western Addition. In addition to housing the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Mount Zion boasts a growing network of outpatient services.
Laurel Heights is the primary location of UCSF’s social, behavioral, and policy science research. A number of academic and campus administrative departments are also located here, along with a food services space, a conference center, and a child care center.
Mount Sutro is home to a vibrant, 61-acre open space reserve owned by UCSF as well as campus housing nestled amongst the trees in the heart of San Francisco. The Reserve features more than 5 miles of public, multi-use trails, with a 900-foot elevation gain, that cater year-round to hikers, trail runners, dogs on leash and cyclists.
About the location
The UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program is a branch of the School of Medicine, extending critical physician training and medical care to the San Joaquin Valley. Established in 1975, it’s the largest physician-training program between Sacramento and Los Angeles, with more than 300 medical residents and fellows and more than 300 visiting medical students each year.
Affiliated with UCSF since 2014, the hospital has over 30 pediatric specialties and is one of only five Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Centers in California. Its research arm, Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute, is one of the top pediatric research centers in terms of National Institutes of Health grant funding.
About the affiliation
The SFVAMC provides primary medical care, comprehensive homeless center, psychosocial and health care services. It has been affiliated with UCSF for over 50 years. All physicians are jointly recruited by SFVAMC and the UCSF School of Medicine.
Since 1864, Zuckerberg San Francisco General and the UCSF School of Medicine have worked in close collaboration to provide health care services for the people of San Francisco. ZSFG is one of UCSF’s primary teaching hospitals, where medical residents train under UCSF faculty and City staff.
An independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution comprising three institutes devoted to the study of cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS, and Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders. Through the institutes’ affiliation with UCSF, Gladstone investigators hold UCSF faculty appointments and participate in many University activities, including the teaching and training of graduate students.
