UCSF Chancellor to Deliver State of University Address on October 4
Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, will share a glimpse of UCSF’s future on Tuesday, Oct. 4 when she delivers the State of the University address.

The UCSF community is invited to this annual address, which will be streamed live on the web from Cole Hall Auditorium on the Parnassus campus from noon to 1 p.m.
Desmond-Hellmann will set the stage by reviewing some of the challenges affecting the University, such as the continued national economic crisis and state budget cuts to education.
She will highlight the many opportunities that lie ahead for UCSF – a nationally renowned health sciences research university – to excel. These opportunities span each of UCSF’s major areas of focus and the chancellor’s top five priorities: patient care, discovery, education, people and business.
UCSF already leads the nation in connecting patients with promising biomedical research; making critical investments in health care facilities and technology; and forging partnerships with industry, government, donors and others to move scientific discovery and education forward.

Desmond-Hellmann and her leadership team streamlined that plan, focusing on five new major goals to serve as a roadmap through 2014-2015 that will foster an environment at UCSF in which everyone can thrive.
The chancellor also will discuss the next steps toward achieving those goals and the roles everyone working and studying at UCSF will play to achieve them.
