Marcel Alavi and his fellow founding members of the UCSF Pride Committee (pictured: Marcel Alavi, Solange Madriz, Larry Lariosa, and Robert Mansfield) worked together with the UCSF LGBT Resource Center to create a visible presence for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, & transgender (LGBT) campus and medical center community by marching in the 2015 SF Pride Celebration.

For 150 years, UCSF has played a vital role in servicing San Francisco, a city known for its rich cultural diversity. This year, with the help of the Alumni Association, the team expanded efforts to celebrate UCSF's commitment in serving the community over the years. In addition to the Pride March, Alumni Association’s “150th Anniversary team” sponsored a photo booth in Civic Center, highlighting UCSF's strong presence in the City. Nearly 250 students, postdocs, faculty, staff, alumni, patients and friends from the campus and medical center joined the contingent for the SF Pride Parade, demonstrating we are truly #oneUCSF.

The 2015 Pride Planning Committee also included Jahan Parsa, Michael Schembri, Rally Adamos, Elise Carlaccini, Maria Heppener.

We are driven by the idea that when the best research, the best education and the best patient care converge, great breakthroughs are achieved. We pursue this excellence through our people. We are all UCSF, united by a driving passion to solve the most challenging health issues of our time and to redefine what's possible. Join the conversation at www.ucsf.edu/oneUCSF.
