Lorna Fernandes

Lorna Fernandes, senior writer and senior public information representative at UCSF, pens copy about innovative research, education, and community programs for UCSF’s website — UCSF.edu. She is also a media contact for reporters requesting access to UCSF clinicians and scientists for breaking stories.

Lorna has more than three decades of news reporting and communications experience, including as a staff reporter for the LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and San Francisco Business Times, and for media relations teams at tech companies PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Sybase. Communications positions at Alameda Health System and Kaiser Permanente tapped her passion for health care, which led her to cover groundbreaking scientific discoveries at UCSF. Lorna holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Francisco State University.
