At UCSF Farmer's Markets, Health is Always in Season

UCSF’s mission of “advancing health worldwide” can begin at home with farmer’s markets conveniently located on campus.

Campus Life Services Retail teamed up with the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association to provide access to fresh produce and locally farmed eggs to the communities at Parnassus and Mission Bay. Shoppers also can find decorative plants, fresh popcorn, handmade cheeses and other specialty foods at the weekly outdoor markets.

Faculty, students and staff are encouraged to take a break for some live music, professional cooking demonstrations and prize giveaways through Facebook.

By providing opportunities to shop locally and sustainably, the UCSF Farmer’s Markets also make it easier to save money and reduce environmental impact. In support of UC Recycling’s commitment to zero waste by 2020, reusable bags are available for purchase and all Mission Bay Farmers’ Market vendors follow plastic-free practices, with the use of environmentally friendly shopping bags.

The farmer’s markets take place each Wednesday, rain or shine, at:

  • Mission Bay, 10 a.m to 2 p.m., April through December on the plaza at Gene Friend Way
  • Parnassus, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. year-round in the Elevator G Breezeway
