UCSF to Celebrate Multiculturalism with Photo Exhibit
Pioneering Artist Kip Fulbeck to Deliver Keynote Address on January 17
Photos of the men, women and children who make up the multicultural identity of UCSF will be on display in the Millberry Union beginning January 11 as part of the ongoing celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the upcoming opening of the Multicultural Resource Center at UCSF.
The "100% You Photo Exhibit," featuring 82 images of faculty, staff, students and children taken by UCSF photographer David Hand, will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 11, 12, 13 and 17 in the Golden Gate Room, Millberry Union Event and Meeting Center, on the UCSF Parnassus campus.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, UCSF will welcome pioneering artist Kip Fulbeck, whose Hapa Project was the inspiration to the new photo exhibit at UCSF. Fulbeck created the Hapa Project, which embodies a range of mediums, including a published book, traveling photographic exhibition, satellite community presentations and online communities. He traveled the United States photographing more than 1,200 volunteer subjects who self-identified as having a mixed ethnic heritage with partial roots in Asian and/or Pacific Islander ancestry.
The UCSF community is invited to hear Fulbeck deliver a keynote talk at the University from noon to 1 p.m. on January 17 in Cole Hall, Medical Sciences Building, 505 Parnassus Ave. His book will be available for purchase and signing following his talk from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Golden Gate Room, Millberry Union, 500 Parnassus Ave.
UCSF announced last year that it will open a Multicultural Resource Center, to be based on the Parnassus campus, to offer support services to diverse members of the UCSF community. Mijiza Sanchez, director of the center, is working with a broad representation from across the University to determine its location, function and scope.
