Archive: QB3 Symposium Focuses on Bioscience as Economic Driver for California
Former Gov. Gray Davis will headline a symposium on how innovation in the biosciences can drive California economic development. Titled “Jobs Through Innovation,” the event will include Davis, explaining the vision behind his UC innovation initiative; QB3 Director Regis Kelly, describing a vision for the next 10 years; and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, recounting how San Francisco grew as a center of innovation.

The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of Gov. Davis launching the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3), with a mandate to grow the California bioeconomy through innovation. QB3 has proven the value of his vision, supporting world-class research at UCSF, UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz; building an incubator network; launching a seed-stage venture fund; and mentoring countless entrepreneurs.
