UCSF Hosts Panel Discussion on Future of Nursing
What: | UCSF is holding a panel discussion to provide an overview of a report issued late last year by the Institute of Medicine, which found that the role, responsibilities and education of nurses should significantly change in coming years in response to rising demands for health care and increasingly complex health technology. The event will outline goals for California, the UC Schools of Nursing, and UCSF in implementing key recommendations of the report including expanding leadership opportunities for nurses, increasing the number of nurses with BA and PhD degrees by 2020, and making nurses “full partners’’ with physicians and other health care professionals in redesigning health care in the United States. With more than 3 million nurses in the U.S. workforce, nurses comprise the single largest segment of the nation’s health care sector. The event is hosted by the UCSF School of Nursing. |
