WHAT: The UCSF Global Health Group will host a Bay Area Global Health Summit to focus on innovative ways of using technologies to improve global health over the next decade. The summit will include prominent international leaders to present and discuss the use of social media tools for health, innovative strategies for combating malaria, new economic development models and other solutions for global issues. The event will include more than 450 participants from UCSF, Berkeley, Stanford, industry, aid organizations and others, including the following key speakers:
- Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer, Facebook, on using social networks in global health
- Amie Batson, U.S. Agency for International Aid, on priorities for global health
- David Brandling-Bennett, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, on the new strategy for malaria elimination.

Global health is a fundamental part of UCSF’s core mission to advance health worldwide.
