UCSF hosts oral cancer prevention

## What:

Special event hosted by UCSF oral cancer specialists to raise awareness of oral cancer and promote early cancer detection.

Organized by a patient whose oral cancer was discovered and treated by specialists at the UCSF School of Dentistry and School of Medicine, the event will include presentations by a representative of State Assemblywoman Fiona Ma; organizer Carl Hilsz; and UCSF specialists including Dr. Brian Schmidt (oral and maxillofacial surgeon); Dr. Jeanne Quivey (radiation oncologist), Dr. Alan Kramer (medical oncologist) and Dr. Pablo Leon (surgeon).

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

San Francisco

## Why:

Oral cancer is the 6th most common form of cancer in the United States and is treatable when caught early, which often occurs during routine dental exams.
