UCSF Conducts Fourth Annual Public Safety Fair

Recognizing two national events, Emergency Preparedness Month in September and Crime Prevention Month in October, the UCSF Police Department will sponsor its Fourth Annual Public Safety Fair at three separate locations.

Fairs are scheduled as follows: • Laurel Heights--Café Patio, Thursday, Sept. 15
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. • Parnassus--Saunders Court, Wednesday, Sept. 28
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. • Mission Bay--Genentech Hall and Koret Quad, Wednesday, Oct. 5.
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. "We encourage the UCSF community to join us at one of the three locations this year," says Lt. Gary Sabin of the UCSF Police Department. "Meet some of the police officers and others who work to help make UCSF a safer place to study and work." The public safety fair brings together a variety of resources to improve overall safety in all aspects: personal, informational, identity, emergency preparedness and security. Some of the organizations that will participate and hand out information include the UCSF Police Department, American Red Cross, US Postal Service, UCSF Environmental Health & Safety, Information Security Services and National Bike Registry. As an added feature, McGruff, the "crime dog" mascot, will be at each of the fairs from noon to 1p.m. Each location will have giveaways with a safety theme or message. Members of the campus community can also enter to win raffle prizes. The raffle drawing will be after the last fair. Food also will be available at the fair for purchase.
