Make Your Voice Heard: Take the Staff Engagement Survey
Survey enhancements this year were guided by your feedback.
Completing the 2026 Staff Engagement Survey this month is a meaningful way to influence your experience working at UCSF and UCSF Health. As a tool for informing local team and leadership action, the survey has helped guide improvements and shape priorities across the enterprise.

Built on Your Feedback: What’s New This Year
This year’s survey builds on the strong foundation established by our prior surveys, enabling us to track progress over time in key areas — including communication, professional development, patient care and safety culture, and workplace culture.
Based on your feedback, we’ve also made some thoughtful updates. In a short video on the Engagement web page, Chief Human Resources Officer Laura Dannels explains what’s new this year, including:
- a greater focus on collaboration and workflows across teams,
- a new Direct Leader Index, which will help us better understand how our leaders are fostering communication, support, trust, and overall effectiveness in the day-to-day experience on their teams, and
- a streamlined approach to reduce duplication and improve clarity.
What’s Next?
Your participation in the survey is just the beginning. As Dannels shared, “Action is where trust is built — where staff can see their feedback leading to meaningful change.”
After the survey closes on May 1, results will be analyzed to spotlight areas for improvement, with a focus on key organizational priorities such as accountability, wellness, belonging, and patient experience. Leaders will share results and work with teams to identify changes that will make the most positive impact and develop action plans.
When you receive your personal survey link from Gallup, please take a few minutes to participate. Your voice makes a difference in improving the work experience for yourself and your colleagues and helps shape the future of UCSF and UCSF Health.
