UCSF to Share Global Health 2035 Report on Dec. 17

The UCSF community is invited to join global health leaders from UCSF and The Lancet Commission on Investing in Health to learn about a major new report: Global Health 2035: A World Converging within a Generation.

The report proposes a bold new strategy to achieve dramatic health gains by 2035.

The event is slated for Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Health Sciences West, room 300, on the Parnassus campus. A reception will follow.

The presentation will feature Lawrence H. Summers, president emeritus of Harvard University and chair of the commission. A discussion, moderated by Jaime Sepulveda, executive director of Global Health Sciences at UCSF, will include:

  • Ken Arrow, Commissioner; Nobel laureate; professor of Economics, Stanford University;
  • Colin Boyle, deputy director, Global Health Sciences, UCSF;
  • Richard Feachem, commissioner; professor of Global Health and director of the Global Health Group, UCSF;
  • Dean Jamison, Commission co-chair; professor of Global Health, University of Washington;
  • Suellen Miller, professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and director, Safe Motherhood Program at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, UCSF;
  • Laura Schmidt, professor of Health Policy and co-director of the Community Engagement and Health Policy Program at the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, UCSF; and
  • Gavin Yamey, Commissioner; lead, Evidence to Policy Initiative, Global Health Group, UCSF.
