San Francisco Giants Parade to Affect Transportation on Wednesday

UCSF Expects Traffic Delays, Crowds Coming into City

Transportation and traffic in around San Francisco will be affected as the Giants victory parade will be held this Halloween day, Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the beginning of Market Street, and will stay moving along Market Street and end at Civic Center.

Based on previous experience, UCSF expects the parade and ceremonies at City Hall to finish up right around 2 p.m., when some folks are leaving to go home.

Those commuting into San Francisco that morning should take public transportation, as Market Street will be closed off entirely to motorists, roughly one hour or more before the parade begins.

UCSF employees are advised to check for real time traffic conditions if you intend to drive through the downtown area. Also, based on previous experience, local garages will likely fill up early and will charge a premium for parking on that day.

MUNI Lines Affected: F, J, K/T, L, M, N, S, 2, 5, 6, 8AX, 8BX, 8X, 9, 9L, 10, 12, 16X, 19, 21, 27, 30, 31, 38, 38L, 45, 71, 71L, 83X.

MUNI passengers, please take note of the routes listed above that will be affected by the parade. Market Street will remain open to buses until roughly 30 to 60 minutes before the parade begins, so please plan accordingly. MUNI metro lines will continue to operate underground during the parade. Please note that more MUNI routes other than the lines listed above may experience rerouting, delays and large crowds.

BART Stations Affected: Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell, Civic Center.

BART passengers, please prepare for extra crowds on rush-hour trains and use caution when exiting at the four downtown San Francisco stations.
