Free Flu Shots Offered at UCSF Drop-In Clinics

Clinics Open from Oct. 1 Through Oct. 17

Flu season is about to begin, and UCSF is offering free flu shots to the campus community at several drop-in clinic locations in October.

The flu shots are available for free to those who have a valid UCSF identification badge.

Anyone with a valid UCSF identification badge is welcome to stop by any one of several locations from Monday, Oct. 1 through Wednesday, Oct. 17.

In the United States, the flu season usually begins in October and can last until May, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a yearly flu vaccine.

Ample supplies of the influenza vaccine are available now. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for a person to develop an immune response, so it's recommended that everyone get vaccinated as soon as possible to be protected. Learn more about the virus that causes the flu on the CDC website.

The flu shots will be administered at the following UCSF locations: Parnassus, Mount Zion, Mission Bay, Mission Center, Laurel Heights, China Basin, Executive Park, 2300 Harrison Street and 3360 Geary Blvd.
