Archive: UCSF Chancellor Discusses "New Social Contract" for Patients with The Wall Street Journal
UCSF Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, spoke with The Wall Street Journal reporter Amy Marcus about her vision of a “new social contract” for patients participating in the health care system.
The intent of this contract would be to advance the goals of precision medicine — treatment based on an understanding of the molecular and environmental factors contributing to disease.
Desmond-Hellmann published an editorial on her call-to-arms to patient advocates last week in Science Translational Medicine.
