National Health Policy Expert to Talk Politics of Universal Health Care
Professor of Health Policy Stuart Altman to Speak at UCSF

National health policy expert Stuart H. Altman, PhD, will talk about "Power, Politics and Universal Health Care," the subject of his recently published book, at a seminar at UCSF on Thursday, March 22.
The seminar will be from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. in the School of Nursing building, room N 225, on the UCSF Parnassus campus. A book signing will follow Altman's talk.
Altman is the Sol C. Chaikin Professor of National Health Policy and former dean of the Heller School for Social Policy & Management at Brandeis University. He is an economist whose research interests are primarily in the area of federal and state health policy.
Altman has served as deputy assistant secretary for planning and evaluation/health at the agency now called the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, co-chair for the Legislative Health Care Task Force for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a member of the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare. He was elected a member of the Institute of Medicine.
