Chancellor to Discuss Future of UCSF at Regents Meeting on January 19

Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, will talk about about UCSF’s future and vision to become the world’s preeminent health sciences innovator during a presentation to the UC Board of Regents at its meeting at UC Riverside on Thursday, Jan. 19.

In her first presentation to the UC Regents since becoming chancellor in August 2009, Desmond-Hellmann will outline the three-year plan for the University that she discussed during her State of the University Address on Oct. 4.

She will share with the Regents’ Committee on Educational Policy results of a recently completed strategic analysis conducted by the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet, and the challenges and implications for UCSF’s future. Desmond-Hellmann also will discuss possible solutions toward achieving a sustainable enterprise-wide business and financial model, one of the five goals contained in the three-year plan.

“I am working to ensure to the long-term success of UCSF and, as always, our guiding principles have been to maintain excellence, accountability, a commitment to our public mission and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to a changing environment,” the chancellor said in an email inviting the campus community to listen to the live audio stream.
