UCSF Community to Gather on July 21 to Remember Kevin Mack

Members of the UCSF community are invited to celebrate the life of Kevin Mack, MD, MS, an associate professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry, who died on July 14 in a UCSF shuttle bus accident in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley. He was 52.

The gathering will take place at 5:00 p.m. in Cole Hall on the UCSF Parnassus campus. The event will be simulcast to San Francisco General Hospital cafeteria and UC Berkeley's University Hall, room 150.

In lieu of flowers, donations to benefit his husband and two children may be made to Kevin Mack, MD, Memorial Fund through Wells Fargo Bank.

At the remembrance on July 21, friends of Mack will be building books about him as gifts to his children, Chiaki, 7, and Nobu, 4. Members of the UCSF community may also express their thoughts about him at the Kevin Mack website

Mack was director of Educational Technology and Faculty Development in the UCSF-Berkeley Joint Medical Program, an Advisory College mentor, and a member of the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators. He worked with the World Health Organization developing problem-based learning programs for use in Africa and the South Pacific. Mack served as one of the advisory college mentors in the School of Medicine and as the director of Educational Technology in the UCSF-Berkeley Joint Medical Program.
