The HIV/AIDS Division and San Francisco General Hospital will host Medical Grand Rounds on Tuesday, June 7 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the first AIDS report to the US Centers of Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention.
June 5, 2011, marks 30 years after the CDC first published a report of Pneumocystis Carinii Pneumonia that signaled the start of HIV epidemic in the United States. Affiliated with UCSF since 1873, San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) was the first to open its doors to HIV/AIDS patients and continues to set the standard internationally for treatment and research.
Laurence Huang, MD, a professor of medicine in the HIV/AIDS Division, will give a lecture titled “30 Years of PCP in HIV/AIDS: Past, Present, Future” in SFGH’s Carr Auditorium from noon until 1 p.m.
This Grand Rounds is part of a series of events by the HIV/AIDS Division and SFGH recognizing the 30th anniversary of World AIDS Day this December. Grand Rounds provide an opportunity for faculty to share their work and also create a venue to invite speakers from other divisions, departments, and campuses.
