Five to Perform in UCSF's Got Talent Show Today
The UCSF community is invited to UCSF’s first campuswide talent show today, (May 3) from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Millberry Union Gymnasium on the Parnassus campus.
Based on the results of the recent UCSF community vote of performances posted on YouTube, five finalists will compete live today during the first-ever “UCSF’s Got Talent” show. Faculty, staff and students can cast their vote for their favorite performer during this free and fun event.
Comedian and actor Dat Phan, winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” will emcee and perform. He will present the first-place winner with an Apple iPad and trophy.
UCSF’s top five finalists are:
- Kenneth C. Williams, PRIME project assistant, Department of Family and Community Medicine, San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH);
- Kenneth Ronquillo , a clinical research assistant in the Asthma Genetics Lab, SFGH;
- Peter Skewes-Cox, a graduate student, biomedical informatics, Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences;
- Stephanie Gameros, who works both as a singing chaplain for Spiritual Care Services at UCSF Medical Center and as an analyst for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Services;
- Kaelynn Wang, a first-year pharmacy student who will demonstrate martial arts using a nine-section chain whip
Gameros says she’s excited about performing in UCSF’s talent show. She sings to patients at the hospital a couple times a week.
“Music is good medicine,” Gameros says. “I just know that music has a great healing component and have integrated into my practice for years.”
UCSF will offer $1 lunch specials from campus vendors, including Courtyard Café, Palio Paninoteca and Carmelina’s Taqueria on a first-come, first-serve basis. Food and seating are limited. A portion of every dollar spent at a campus vendor helps fund activities, programs, and entertainment at UCSF.
“UCSF’s Got Talent” is hosted by Campus Life Services Arts & Events and Asian Pacific American Systemwide Alliance (APASA) Committee.
