Voting Begins Today for "UCSF's Got Talent" Show
With 22 videos posted on YouTube, voting begins today (April 19) for “UCSF’s Got Talent” show – the first campuswide competition showcasing an array of acts from stand-up comedy to country music.
Members of the UCSF community now can view the video submissions on Campus Life Services Arts & Events YouTube channel.
To vote, faculty, staff, students and trainees can log onto the Campus Life Services website from April 19 through April 26.
“We’re very excited to have the entire UCSF community participate in this event,” says Jennifer Mannix, Arts & Events manager. “We believe that voting, and cheering on the contestants, will get everyone into the spirit of this fun show.”
Dat Phan, the original winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” will be master of ceremonies for the live show featuring the top five finalists at UCSF on Monday, May 3.
“It’s guaranteed to be an entertaining afternoon,” says Joey Convento, producer for Arts & Events. “Between our talented contestants and comedian Dat Phan, it’ll be a good time.”
Here’s how members of the UCSF community can participate:
- View the videos and vote (from April 19 to 26) for your favorite performer
- Attend the “UCSF’s Got Talent” show in the UCSF Millberry Union on Monday, May 3, from noon to 1:30 p.m. to see five finalists perform.
- Vote, via ballot, at that show, for who is the most talented.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 4 on the Arts & Events website. The first place winner will receive a trophy, and will be featured in a story on UCSF Today and will appear on the Arts & Events website for a year.
“We hope to make this an annual event,” says Convento. “For years, people have asked Arts & Events to host a talent show, and we’re ready to see the faculty, students, and staff of UCSF show off their skills and talents.”
