Students to Host Third Annual Spring Art Show

Woman in Chinchero, Peru by Justine Ung

UCSF students will show their artworks at the Third Annual Spring Student Art Show on Thursday, March 11.

The art show, open to the campus community, is slated for 5 to 7 p.m. in the Millberry Union City Lights Room on the UCSF Parnassus campus.

The event is made possible by the UCSF Arts and Performing Arts Fund.

One of the featured works in the art show is by pharmacy student Justine Ung, who took this picture of a woman in Chinchero, Peru.

The photo is part of this year’s “Tabula” collection of paintings, photography and prose featured in the current issue of the UCSF student newspaper Synapse.

Mission Bay, by Joseph Donovan

Also part of the Synapse “Tabula” issue is this photo of Mission Bay by Joseph Donovan, a second-year neuroscience graduate student in the Baier Lab. He is also the organizer of the UCSF Photography Interest Club. Says Donovan of the photo: “I took it in March of 2009 from the top of the Mission Bay parking lot on 3rd Street. It was shot at night as multiple long exposures using a tripod, and edited together as a HDR (high dynamic range) image.”
