Nominations Sought for Martin Luther King Award

Nominations for the 2010 Martin Luther King, Jr. Award are now being accepted to recognize members of the campus community who work to advance equal opportunity and diversity at UCSF.

The deadline for nominations has been extended to Monday, Oct. 26. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. in the Office of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity/Diversity, Box 0988, Laurel Heights, room 101. For more information, please call 415/476-1008.

Each year three individuals — one academic, one staff, and one student/resident/postdoctoral scholar — may be selected to receive this award in recognition of extraordinary leadership and inspiration in furthering the goal of achieving greater cultural and ethnic diversity within the UCSF community. The awards will be presented during the week of Jan. 18, 2010, in conjunction with the annual campus celebration commemorating the legacy of Dr. King.

Please consider those UCSF individuals whose special efforts merit this distinction. The nomination form, award criteria, and a list of previous recipients are available on the Office of the Chancellor website.

Hard copies of nomination forms will be available at Laurel Heights, room 101, Medical Sciences building, room 126, and the Moffitt Hospital Information Desk, both on the Parnassus campus.
