In recent years, researchers have learned that beta cells of the pancreas die in patients with type 2 diabetes. UCSF’s Feroz Papa. MD, PhD, studies cells in the lab to learn why and how. But as a physician working at ground zero in the diabetes epidemic, he also wants to see new knowledge translated into clinical practice.
