UCSF Chancellor's Concert Season Starts Sept. 11
UCSF will present the Chancellor’s Concert Series again this fall beginning with the Tilden Trio performing on Thursday, Sept. 11 in Cole Hall on the Parnassus campus.
Formed in 2004 by Julliard schoolmates, the Bay Area-based Tilden Trio includes Sarn Oliver on violin, Peter Wyrich on cello and June Choi-Oh on piano performing Mendelsohn: Piano Trio No. 2 in C minor, Op. 66.
The series — now in its eleventh year -- runs Thursdays from September 11 to November 20. All concerts will be held in Cole Hall, except on November 20, when the concert will be held at UCSF Mission Bay. The room location for that date will be announced later. Admission is free and open to the public.
Funded by UCSF Chancellor Mike Bishop, MD, the series gives the campus community an opportunity to enjoy professional, classical music featuring artists primarily from the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music faculty. The series was founded in 1998 by then Chancellor Haile Debas, MD, now executive director of UCSF Global Health Sciences.
The concert series is directed by Pearl Toy, MD, and produced by Campus Life Services’ Arts & Events. David Watts, MD, reads poems before the concert.
Seating begins at noon. The poetry reading is from 12:10 to 12:15 p.m.Concert attendees may bring their lunch and eat it from noon to 12:15 p.m. Eating is discouraged during the concert from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
