UCSF Introduces PhysFit Wellness Program
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science invites the campus community to an open house of UCSF PhysFit, a state-of-the-science facility that the Bakar Fitness & Recreation Center, William J. Rutter Center, 1675 Owens St. at the Mission Bay campus.
UCSF PhysFit has a wide range of injury-specific, musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary physical therapy programs and rehabilitation services. Programs and classes have been designed by physical therapists to promote weight maintenance, stress management, good posture, mental acuity, cardiopulmonary fitness, endurance, balance, flexibility and strength.
New wellness programs include:
• BrainFit – healthy aging, mental acuity
• CardioFit – monitored cardiovascular rehab
• NeuroFit – rehab for stroke, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, MS, vertigo
• TeenFit – weight maintenance
• WaterFit – unweighted workout
• Pelvic Power – stress/urge control, spine stability
• Primary Prevention – endurance training for chronic conditions
• Stand Tall – flexibility, posture, bone health
• Stress Less with Cancer
