UCSF received $252 million in total private support for fiscal year 2006-2007, which was $51 million more than in the previous fiscal year, according to the UCSF Foundation Annual Report on Private Support 2006-2007.
This marks the eighth consecutive year in which total private support to UCSF exceeded $200 million.
In 2004-2005, total private support soared to $293 million, which accounts for the last of three installments from Catellus Development Corp., which donated $166 million for the 30-acre parcel of land for UCSF Mission Bay.
The total sources of private support for fiscal year 2006-2007 are:
- Foundations: $133.5 million or 53 percent
- Other individuals: $49.3 million or 20 percent
- Alumni: $2.7 million or 1 percent
- Corporations: $23.2 million or 9 percent
- Campus-related organizations: $4.3 million or 2 percent
- Other nonprofit organizations: $22.6 million or 9 percent
- UCSF Foundation directors and members: $16.3 million or 6 percent
- Research: $62.6 million or 25 percent
- Departmental support: $112 million or 45 percent
- Student support: $12.7 million or 5 percent
- Campus improvements: $46.1 million or 18 percent
- Unrestricted: $4.4 million or 2 percent
- Other purposes: $11.1 million or 4 percent
- Instruction: $3 million or 1 percent
