GLBT Leadership Award Nominations Deadline Extended to 5 p.m., March 31
Nominations are requested for the 2008 Chancellor's Award for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and/or Transgender (GLBT) Leadership. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. today, March 31.
This award recognizes contributions to the advancement of GLBT communities at UCSF. Three individuals - one faculty/academic, one staff and one student/resident/fellow/postdoctoral scholar - will be selected to receive this award at a special ceremony in June.
Individuals who meet one or more of the award criteria, whether or not they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, are eligible to be nominated. Each recipient will receive $2,000.
"I encourage you to take the time to nominate the outstanding faculty, staff and students with whom you are associated who meet these criteria," said Chancellor J. Michael Bishop, MD.
Individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria are eligible to be nominated:
- • elevating the status of GLBT people on campus;
- • increasing the visibility of GLBT experiences and issues on campus;
- • promoting and advancing mutual respect, understanding and appreciation for diversity within the GLBT and campus communities;
- • helping to create and participating in career and academic mentoring for GLBT people on campus;
- • contributing to the generation and dissemination of knowledge on GLBT health and well-being through education, research and public presentations; and
- • promoting and advancing the admission, recruitment and upward mobility of GLBT people on campus.
