It's Time to Get Out and Vote

The campus community is encouraged to get out and vote in California's primary election today (Feb. 5). Not only is this an important opportunity to vote for the candidate who will be placed on the general election for the president of the United States in November, but there are important issues on the California ballot as well. In accordance with UC Personnel Policy 46, a non-exempt employee shall be granted leave with pay, up to a maximum of two hours, for voting in a statewide primary or general election if the employee does not have time to vote outside of working hours. Any additional time off shall be without pay. Employees are asked to notify their supervisor in advance if they need to take time off during work hours to vote. Voters will be asked to weigh in on transportation funding, state legislative term limits, Indian gaming compacts and funding for community colleges, which could have an impact on the University of California. Primary election results will not be available until after the polls close at 8 p.m. Related Links: California Presidential Primary Election, Official Voter Information Guide Super Tuesday is Here, MSNBC
