Hepatitis B is the No. 1 cause of liver cancer world wide.
In collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the Bay Area Hospital Council, UCSF Medical Center is sponsoring a monthly hepatitis B screening and vaccination clinic on the first Saturday of every month.
The next screening will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the UCSF Hepatitis B Screening and Vaccination Clinic, 2330 Post St., first floor.
People from areas with high rates of hepatitis B, particularly Asians and Pacific Islanders, should be screened. Translators for the following languages are available: Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Tagalog.
Free blood testing for hepatitis B and free or low-cost vaccination for hepatitis B will be provided.
This is also an opportunity to become informed about hepatits B infection and its consequences and to understand the need for treatment and evaluation.
