UCSF Experts Discuss "Translational Research" for UCSF Foundation Wellness Lecture Series
On Oct. 4, the UCSF Foundation Wellness Lecture Series presented "From Lab Bench to Bedside: Translating Research into Cures." The latest in the series, "From Lab Bench to Bedside" addressed the following questions:
What is "translational research"? Why is it so innovative? And why does it hold such promise for accelerating medical discoveries?
What does it take to move a research breakthrough from the laboratory to the clinic?
How can scientists and physicians work together?
What common discoveries do we owe to translational research?
To address these issues and to take additional questions from the audience, four UCSF experts joined moderator Jan Yanehiro and Lecture Chair Will Hearst at the UCSF Mission Bay Community Center. The panelists and the topics of their discussions included:
