New Exhibit Opens at UCSF Faculty/Alumni House

For more than 30 years working as an art director, Bob Ankers has developed package designs, new product lines and marketing materials for many major food companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Realizing that food is his life, Ankers has been "putting a banquet of ideas onto canvas." The campus community is invited to feast on the work and attend an opening reception for the artist on Thursday, April 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the UCSF Faculty/Alumni House at 745 Parnassus Ave., San Francisco. The reception is open to the public. Ankers enjoys what he calls "sculpting images with an ingredient of massive amounts of paint and other materials to reach the flavors that people can relate to."
His hope is that his "work will be enjoyed like a fine meal." Ankers' whimsical work runs the gamut of edible goods from the Single Yellow Pair, a 2002 oil painting on canvas, to a takeoff on the popular TV crime show, CSI Dog, in which a hot dog seems to have met an untimely fate. The UCSF Faculty/Alumni House is open weekdays by appointment. For more information, call 415/476-4723.
