UCSF Group Hosts Global Life Science Competition

The Innovation Accelerator, an organization led by students and postdocs at UCSF, will host the 2007 Global Life Science Innovation Competition on Friday, April 20. The day-long program features famous entrepreneurs, biotechnology experts, and venture capitalists. This event is a great opportunity for campus entrepreneurs to network, practice business skills, and learn how to start down the pathway to commercialization. The Life Science Competition will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UCSF Mission Bay campus, Community Center. The group is building on its previous success hosting one of the nation's top university-based life science entrepreneurial events. Last year, the event drew nearly 100 submissions, more than 30 venture capitalist and industry judges, and awarded $15,000 in prize money. Co-hosted by the UCSF Center for BioEntrepreneurship, the event is open to all life science entrepreneurs, both inside and outside academia. Participants can enjoy breakfast, lunch and a cocktail reception. A closing reception hosted by Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc. is scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the new Life Science and Translational Research Building, 1700 Owens St. For more information, visit the website.
