New Law Requires Dental Exams Among Public School Children
The California Dental Association sponsored a new law that requires children in their first year of public school to get a dental exam before May 31. KPIX-TV follows UCSF pediatric dentist and clinical professor Mahmoud Ashrafi, DDS, MS, as he treats three-year-old Savannah for dental decay. Ashrafi said the legislation will help children who have trouble in school due to dental pain and, at the least, the law will bring awareness that their mouth is important and part of their physical being.
