Campus to Commemorate Women's History Month

Author and photographer Paola Gianturco will give her global perspective on how the world celebrates women as part of UCSF's recognition of Women's History Month. Gianturco, author of Celebrating Women, will share her experiences gleaned while photographing many colorful and vibrant festivals honoring women in countries such as Thailand, China, Poland and Brazil. She spent five years photographing 17 festivals in 15 countries - from girls floating wreaths of wildflowers on a river in Poland to seafaring families riding boats to honor the Goddess of Fishermen in China. The campus community is invited to hear Gianturco's stories and view her slide show on Tuesday, March 6, from noon to 1 p.m. in the UCSF School of Nursing building, room N 225. Co-sponsored by the UCSF Center for Gender Equity and the UCSF Student Activity Center, this presentation is free and open to the public. Women's History Month at UCSF also features motivational speaker Jewel Diamond Taylor, who will offer insights into how to tap into personal power to achieve dreams, on Monday, March 26. Taylor's free presentation is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. in the School of Nursing building, room N 225. Taylor also has traveled the world, speaking in London, Cancun, the Virgin Islands, Jamaica and many places across the United States, delivering her upbeat, can-do message of hope and empowerment to provide a path for personal success and inner peace. The author of several books, including Pearls of Wisdom, Taylor offers tips on how to be a winner in life.
