Police Report Burglary at Mission Bay Housing Complex

An apartment at the UCSF Mission Bay Housing Complex at 1560 Third Street was burglarized on Friday, Feb. 9 at 10:24 a.m., according to UCSF police. The suspect, pictured here via campus video surveillance, reportedly entered the main lobby area of the Mission Bay housing complex by following another person who had access to the building. The suspect reportedly used a fire extinguisher to break through a corridor wall and unlock the apartment door. The suspect then exited the building through the north entrance gate at 10:37 a.m. after allegedly taking a laptop computer and cash from the apartment. There were no other reports of burglaries at the Mission Bay housing complex, police say. Faculty, staff and students are asked to please use basic safety precautions when entering or exiting any access-controlled building. The campus community should be alert to anyone loitering around building entrances and should avoid giving unknown persons access when entering or exiting a building.
