Police Report String of Auto Burglaries at Parnassus Garage

Several cars parked in the Millberry Union garage have been burglarized recently, according to the UCSF Police Department. The majority of these incidents have occurred in the public parking structure at 500 Parnassus Ave. Most of these crimes have been discovered and reported between the work hours of 3 and 5 p.m. Burglars have smashed car windows to gain access to items. So far, there has not been any consistent pattern for the types of items stolen during these burglaries, police say. The UCSF Police Department is actively investigating these cases and is taking proactive measures to secure the area. Anyone with information regarding these burglaries should contact the UCSF Police Department Investigations Section at 415/476-6890. Meanwhile, the campus community is encouraged to take these steps to help prevent crime: * Always lock your vehicle, roll up windows and set alarm if equipped. * Do not leave any items in plain view within the vehicle. * Do not leave any items of value in your vehicle. * Park in well-lit areas whenever possible. * Do not leave your parking ticket in the vehicle while using a parking garage.
