Archive: Racial Divide in Breast Cancer Detection
Research at the University of California, San Francisco found a racial disparity in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Black women are not diagnosed as early as white women. UCSF epidemiologist and radiologist Rebecca Smith-Bindman, MD, disusses breast cancer statistics including death rates among African-American women.
