Campus Shows Signs of the Season
The University is beginning to show signs of the holiday season.
Here are a few of the UCSF events to get the campus community into the holiday spirit.
Entertainment
• The Fil Lorenz Jazz Trio will perform at the Millberry Union Plaza on the Parnassus campus on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from noon to 1 p.m.
• The Conservatory of Music Holiday Carolers also will perform in front of the Millberry Union on the Parnassus campus on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
• The UCSF Gospel Choir will perform in the Millberry Union Conference Center Lobby on the Parnassus campus on Thursday, Dec. 7 from noon to 1 p.m.
• The San Francisco Opera Guild and Arts & Events will present a free hour of music, theater, comedy and fun from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 in Cole Hall on the Parnassus campus. Complimentary eggnog and hot cider will be served while supplies last.
Shopping Spree
Faculty, staff and students don't have to brave crowded malls or spend time online to buy gifts for their friends and family.
UCSF will host its 17th Annual Holiday Shopping Spree on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Millberry Union Conference Center and Gym on the Parnassus campus.
This event is free and open to the public.
More than 60 vendors will convene to sell their goods, which run the gamut from original artwork, fashion and fashion accessories, jewelry, holiday ornaments and crafts to clothes, handmade soaps, bath items and toys.
See's candies also will be on sale while supplies last. In addition, gift certificates, including those for Macy's and Pasta Pomodoro, will be available for purchase and make great stocking stuffers.
Importantly, a portion of the proceeds supports future Campus Life Services Arts & Events and activities. For more information on these events, call 415/476-2675.
Tree Trimming
Volunteer Services at UCSF Medical Center will host the 7th Annual Tree Trimming Party on Friday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. in the Main Medical Center Lobby on the Parnassus campus.
Faculty, staff, students, visitors and patients are invited to bring in an ornament to hang on the community tree or just stop by to spread some holiday cheer with colleagues during this yearly heart-warming event.
As an added treat, pre-school children who attend the Marilyn Reed Child Care Study Center will sing holiday tunes at 10:15 a.m.
