Archive: Free Flu Shot Clinics
All employees, faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, students and volunteers, can receive a free flu shot through UCSF.
All UCSF faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated, especially those with patient contact. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the vaccine is the best means of protection against influenza and is recommended for all health care workers.
This year, UCSF will provide the inactivated vaccine, which contains three flu strains. The three vaccine strains are representative of the influenza vaccine strains recommended for this year. The vaccine will stimulate antibody production in the body, which develops in about two weeks.
UCSF will be providing flu shots beginning today (Oct. 30) through Friday, Nov. 17. Appointments are not necessary. UCSF identification is required.
