A world-renowned expert on Ayurveda, an ancient holistic approach to health that originated in India thousands of years ago, will present a lecture and workshop in late October.
Vasant Lad, BAMS, Ma.Sc, will present his teachings on Ayurveda diagnosis at a free evening lecture on Friday, October 27, 7-9 p.m.

A weekend fee-based workshop is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 28-29, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., respectively.

The workshop, “Your Body is Talking … Are you Listening,” is co-sponsored by the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, the UCSF Social Sciences in Medicine Area of Concentration and the Friends of Ayurveda.
Admission is $75 for students, $50 for student groups of five or more, and $195 per person, $150 for general groups of five or more.
Both events will take place at the UCSF’s School of Nursing, 513 Parnassus, Room N-225 in San Francisco.
In Ayurveda, which means, “the science of life,” health is based on a harmonious relationship between three principles that govern psychological and physiological responses and pathological changes called “doshas.” When these doshas are out of balance, it is said, disease occurs. By applying simple Ayurveda techniques, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual states can be restored.
