UCSF to Reduce Smokers Huts to Two by July 1
As the next step in the process of providing a smoke-free environment for all, areas currently designated as sites where smoking is permitted, otherwise known as "Smoker's Huts," will be eliminated effective Saturday, July 1.
This means that smoking will no longer be permitted at the Fresno and Mission Bay campuses, as well as the Laurel Heights and Mission Center buildings.
UCSF is working toward the goal of protecting all who live, work, study, or visit the campus from a major health concern: secondhand smoke.
The policy is intended to provide a smoke-free environment on University-owned or leased property - including parking lots -- buildings, vehicles and moving equipment. The policy also states that all faculty, staff, students, patients and visitors must observe this smoke-free policy.
Supervisors are responsible for enforcing the policy at their worksites.
Maps of the two remaining areas for smoking, which are located on the Parnassus and Mount Zion campuses, can be viewed online at Maps of Smoker's Huts at UCSF.
