UCSF Offers Free Skin Cancer Screening May 6

UCSF will offer free skin cancer screening on May 6, a community event that is part of a national effort to set a new Guinness world record. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion, 1701 Divisadero Street, third floor in San Francisco. No appointment is necessary. Sponsored by the UCSF Department of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology, the event is part of a nationwide goal to screen 5,606 people for skin cancer in a single day and set the new record. May is designated as Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month by the American Academy of Dermatology. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer and through early detection, it can be highly curable. In addition to receiving a free skin cancer screening, participants also will be educated about sun protection and self skin examinations.
