UCPD Reports String of Auto Burglaries on Parnassus Campus
The UCSF Police Department received 16 reports of vehicles that had been burglarized while parked at the Millberry Union and Ambulatory Clinical Care Garages on March 14.
In the majority of the cases, victims returned to find that their car windows had been smashed and miscellaneous items stolen. Many of the victims vent were UCSF employees who parked their vehicles between the hours of 6:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. These were employees who worked the late swing and graveyard shift hours.

The UCPD offers these tips to prevent crime:
• Immediately report any suspicious person(s) loitering around any UCSF facilities to the UCSF Police at 415/476-1414 or 9-911 in an emergency.
• Always lock and roll up windows when leaving your vehicle.
• Do not leave items in plain view within the vehicle.
• Do not leave valuable items (laptops, PDA, jewelry, etc.) in the vehicle.
• Walk in well lit areas. Avoid dark doorways/entrances. Stay near the street side of the sidewalk.
• Travel in groups whenever possible.
• Make use of UCSF security escorts and the shuttles 415/885-7890.
• Establish a "lifeline"-- a person who knows your current whereabouts and your schedule. This lifeline person will call the Police on your behalf if you do not "check in" when expected.
• Contact Crime Prevention at 415/476-5683 for safety presentations at UCSF.
