Mission Bay Pub to Open on March 17
The Mission Bay Community Center invites faculty, staff and students to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Pub at 4 p.m. on March 17.
Participating in the ceremony will be Executive Vice Chancellor Eugene Washington, Associate Vice Chancellor Stella Hsu and Al Minvielle, director of Campus Life Services, among others. Joey Covento of Campus Life Services will be the disc jockey for the grand opening.
During the entire month of March, the campus community can enjoy a grand opening special of shrimp cocktail for 99 cents.
Located on the first floor of the community center with views of the Koret Quad, the 123-seat pub is a long-awaited addition to, and dining alternative, at the Mission Bay campus.
Simply called "the Pub," the eatery is accented by a beautiful patio area, an adjacent lounge and a cozy bar airing all the latest news and sports on a flat-screen TV.
The new spot for socialization and sustenance will offer a menu that includes daily specials, an array of California pub fare, salads, sandwiches and hearty entrees. Menu items will feature seasonal ingredients -- all delightfully executed and presented. The pub also offers a kids menu.
Some of the menu items are:
• Chili con carne, a no-bean appetizer that combines Angus sirloin and Spanish chorizo in a rich chili broth topped with cheddar strips and served with tortilla chips, which costs $4.95.
• The Napa Valley salad, a dish of mixed baby greens with shaved red onions, sweet cherry tomatoes and warm pine nut-crusted goat cheese and tossed in a sweet basil vinaigrette, which costs $7.50.
• A grilled Farmers Market vegetarian sandwich that combines roasted red peppers, portabella mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cream cheese, sprouts and avocado on whole grain bread for $6.50. The Pub's menu is posted here.
In addition, a vast variety of beverages will be available, including Peet's coffee and espresso, power smoothies, California wines and specialty beers. See wine list here.
The Pub is part of Campus Life Services and will be operated by ARAMARK Harrison Lodging, part of ARAMARK Corporation, an international company specializing in food services for stadiums, arenas, campuses, businesses and schools. ARAMARK ranked number one in its industry on Fortune magazine's list of "America's Most Admired Companies" for 2006.
The Pub's operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Pub is located at Mission Bay Community Center, 1675 Owens St., San Francisco, CA 94143-3000. To book the Pub for a private party, call 866/431-8273.
