UCSF Stem Cell Symposium to Air on KQED Radio, UCTV

Those who missed the UCSF symposium about the future of stem cell science on Sept. 20 have multiple opportunities to hear and see the discussion via KQED public broadcasting and UCTV. KQED radio, channel 88.5 FM, will air the symposium titled "Stem Cell Research: Implications for the Future" on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 8 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 30, at 2 a.m. UCTV will premiere the stem cell symposium on Monday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. The show will air again on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 5 and 8 p.m. UCTV offers educational and enrichment programs from the UC campuses, national laboratories and affiliated institutions of the University of California. The well-attended UCSF event, presented in partnership with the consulates of Sweden and Norway, was arranged in conjunction with "The Nobel Prize: 100 Years of Creativity," a 5,000-square-foot exhibition at the Exploratorium that reveals a blueprint of sorts for the Nobel Prize and a historic overview. The exhibition runs through Sunday, Oct. 2. Moderated by David Kessler, dean of UCSF School of Medicine and vice chancellor of medical affairs, the evening discussion featured distinguished stem cell researchers from UCSF, two of UCSF's Nobel laureates and visiting Nobel laureate Arvid Carlsson of Sweden.
