Science and Society Training to Begin
Participants of the Science and Society Institute, a development program for clinical and research scientists, will convene in Washington, DC in the next few days for media and public policy training.
The training session is scheduled for September 18-21.
The Science and Society Institute (SSI) prepares scientists to actively take part in civic life by providing them with the leadership, media and public policy skills to become effectively involved in science policy issues in their institutions, scientific societies and at all levels of government.
Two of the selected participants for media and public policy training hail from UCSF. They are: Barbara Gerbert, PhD, and Samara Reck-Peterson, PhD. Leadership training will be conducted in Berkeley in November.
SSI is funded by PEW Charitable Trusts and administered by the Center for the Health Professions at UCSF.
The next session of media and public policy training is scheduled for spring 2006.
