UCTV Features Timely Topic on Disaster Preparedness
University of California Television (UCTV) will present again a four-part series on disaster preparedness for primary care providers from the California Preparedness Education Network (Cal-PEN).
Covering the topics of general disaster preparedness, bioterrorist threats, chemical and radiation threats, and emerging infections, the programs will air at noon (Pacific) during UCTV's "Med Ed Hour" and are also available for viewing "on demand" from the website.
The four-part series will re-air on Wednesdays this month as follows:
• General Disaster Preparedness, Sept. 7
• Bioterrorist Threats, Sept. 14
• Chemical and Radiation Threats, Sept. 21
• Emerging Infections, Sept. 28
Each program is certified for one hour of free Category One CME credit by the UC Davis Office of Continuing Medical Education. Complete broadcast schedules, links to view programs, details about registering for credit, as well as links to discussion boards and other information can be found at the official UCTV/Cal-Pen website.
In addition to the broadcasts, the website will host an interactive discussion board where health care providers can submit questions to the series presenter and medical advisor, Christian Sandrock, MD, MPH of UC Davis School of Medicine. The answers will then be posted on-line for all to reference. Viewers' questions can be submitted through a link on the website.
Cal-PEN is also holding in-person training seminars around the state conducted by faculty from multiple health disciplines, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health and first responders. For more information about these local trainings, call 559/241-7650.
